Introduction for graduate students to the fundamentals of GIS, including its design and implementation. Students will learn about data structures, input, storage, analysis, and display. Laboratory exercises accompanying the lectures are designed to illustrate the applications of GIS in ecology and conservation research, as well as to provide hands-on experience with Arc/Info and ArcView GIS software.
