Caroline Gaskin (She/Her) focal research encompasses intraspecific variation of behavior amongst diverse taxa. Currently, she investigates communication pathways in social, swarming flies, focusing on flashing wing beat frequency and its role in intraspecific mate recognition. Before her graduate studies, Caroline completed her undergraduate degree at Colgate University, where she engaged in a myriad of ethological studies, such as investigating site-fidelity in harbour seals integrating facial recognition and eDNA techniques, foraging strategies variation amongst antlion larvae, and dispersal patterns in re-established colonies of Columbian Ground Squirrels. Throughout her various experiences. Caroline has developed a deep passion for unraveling the mechanisms, costs and benefits that underlie behavior. Outside research, she enjoys passing the time by reading, singing, and spending time with her orange cat Yogurt-Sherbert.
