Rin (he/they) is a Systematist and Biodiversity scientist. They graduated with a B.S. in Entomology from Cornell University and have worked for the USDA and Smithsonian as well as in places such as Taiwan, Panama, and Sri Lanka. They are a 5th year partner PhD candidate at E3B and the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). Their primary advisor is Dr. Jessica Ware and their E3B advisor is Dr. Shahid Naeem. Since 2015, they have been working on the superfamily Apoidea, which includes arthropod-hunting wasps and bees. Through collections-based research, phylogenomics, and field studies, their dissertation seeks to elucidate the evolutionary relationships of Apoidea and the role of diet in their diversification and richness.
