Dr. Winslow Hansen is an assistant scientist at Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies and Director of the Western Fire and Forest Resilience Collaborative (WFFRC), a multi-year program of 10 research teams across the US. The goal of WFFRC is to produce synthetic interdisciplinary research and leverage these findings to develop actionable fire and forest science with the very decision makers who can use insights to implement solutions. He is also affiliate faculty with the International Arctic Research Center at University of Alaska Fairbanks. His research is focused on advancing knowledge of the changing Earth system by uncovering rules that govern interactions and feedbacks among forests, disturbances, and climate.
