Designing Assignments for Motivation and Learning (for Faculty)
A 60-minute workshop for Columbia Faculty.
How can assignment design inspire student motivation and learning? In this workshop, we will explore strategies that inspire student engagement by providing students with meaningful choices and building in structured opportunities for them to make use of feedback. This workshop will guide faculty in designing assignments to emphasize student agency, intrinsic motivation, and reflective revision—helping students to engage deeply and critically with the course material and empowering students to take responsibility for their learning.
