Title: Ecology in the Age of Big Data: Cross-scale dynamics of biodiversity under global change

Abstract: The proliferation of environmental data is fundamentally changing the landscape of opportunity in the field of ecology. I will illustrate how we are leveraging these data resources, using a combination of leading-edge quantitative tools and ecological theory, to understand the processes that shape patterns of biodiversity. I will place a particular focus on the cross-scale nature of these dynamics, with variation across spatial, temporal, and organizational scales, and how these are being altered in response to global change.

Research Seminars are important weekly events in the E3B Department. They include a mix of invited speakers from other institutions or departments and members of the E3B community, including graduating Ph.D. students.

Open to E3B students, faculty, and staff only.
