Professor Ruth DeFries elected to the National Academy of Engineering!

She is recognized for elucidating anthropogenic land-use change impacts on environmental sustainability, and for providing science for policy decisions. Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Ruth is already a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a MacArthur Fellow.
